INTERVIEW: Cloe Norgaard

Hi Chloe! Where are you from originally, and where do you currently call home now?

I was born in Long Beach, CA, but grew up on Long Island. I’ve been living back in the city for the past few months, taking a break from the nomad life (kind of), but I want to get a place in Berlin soon.

Where is your favorite place in the world?

TOKYO!! And at any music festival anywhere.

Your Nasty Gal shoot looks crazy fun. Was it a blast? Any anecdotes?

It was really fun. One of the guys in one of the lighting stores was hilarious so he wins for best memory; Tim and I had a blast with him. And Haley the stylist let me keep those bunny slippers!

The styling was wild. What are some your favorite pieces?

The ones I got to throw in: Asger Juel Larsen & Mamadoux! Whenever I can support people I know, it makes me really happy.

What’s your all-time favorite piece of clothing?

Onesies! I get them whenever I go to Tokyo. They are so comfy and fun. I have way too many, or wait, that’s not possible!

What’s your biggest fashion faux-pas?

I think as long as you are yourself and do what you like then there aren’t any.

Were you a wild one as a teen – what was your fashion style like? And now – how would you describe it?

I was a bit too wild as a teen… My style back then was still out there. I think now I just have more of a collection of things. How do I describe it? Comfy and playful and weird and boom ♥

What’s a model’s life like behind the lens?

On a shoot day, show up, grab some food (if there is any, if not then I’m grumpy), hopefully there’s already music on, if not, make sure that happens. Hair, makeup. Get dressed and shoot. I love being on set. I got started about three years ago.

Loving your hair color. Have you always had fun with your hair? How long have you been playing around with colors?

First time I dyed it was in elementary school and I sprayed it blue. I remember classmates calling me weird. I like being weird; there’s no point to hide it. In high school I was part of that whole Myspace thing, so my friend Brett and I would do crazy things to my hair all the time, from dreads to extensions to different colors. And now I’m still playing with colors. I’ve had the green since last New Year’s Eve, I wanted it to glow in the dark at night so did it before we went to a beach party in Mexico As I write this, it’s yellow orange and red—I change it a lot. There’s just so many options, it’s like doing arts and crafts on my head!

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re off-duty?

Listen to LOUD music, whether at home while I’m collaging or hanging lights around my apartment or painting or eating candy or while out dancing my ass off to a great DJ or at a concert. I love being completely free and just dancing, one of the best things in life ever. Music literally is my drug.

What exciting upcoming projects or plans are on the horizon for you?

I just modeled for Rodarte exclusively at NYFW. I walked for Nicole Miller too, she’s so rad; I love her energy. And then I went to London and Milan for more shows. Now I’m taking some time to just party and see friends. Next I will go to Copenhagen or Greece for a vacation soon to relax after all the fashion week madness
